PLAY! With Mike Holober and the hr-Bigband

The second working phase of our new program with the hr-Bigband, the Frankfurt Radio Big Band, will take place from July 4-15, 2023 and will be led by drummer, composer and arranger John Hollenbeck.

The first working phase of the MA Bigband begins on October 31. It will be led by Jim McNeely, the longtime principal conductor of the hr-Bigband, who now continues his work as composer in residence. The program will feature music from the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra.

The next phase of the MA Bigband with the hr-Bigband will be led by Nikki Iles. From July 2 to 13, the British pianist and composer will be working with the students and musicians of the Frankfurt Radio Big Band. The program will conclude with two concerts.

The next phase of MA Bigband's work with the hr-Bigband, the Frankfurt Radio Big Band, will take place from October 30 to November 10, 2023, and will be led by one of the most innovative big band composers of recent years: Darcy James Argue. At the end, there will again be two concerts.
