Campus Conducting
CAMPUS CONDUCTING (CAMPUS DIRIGIEREN) combines a large interdisciplinary master class (CAMPUS I) with a competition (CAMPUS II) for conducting students from all music universities in Germany. Each university can send two conducting students.
The project was initiated by the AG Dirigieren (Conducting Working Group), which is made up of the conducting professors of the German conservatories. In 2021/22 CAMPUS DIRIGIEREN will take place for the second time – a unique opportunity for networking and exchange within conducting education in Germany.
From 18 to 21 November 2021, the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) will host CAMPUS I, where participating conducting students will be taught in four masterclass modules: Symphonic, New Music, Music Theatre and Early Music.
The mentors supervising the modules also form the jury for CAMPUS I and, after the four days, select 12 students who qualify for CAMPUS II. CAMPUS II with three final rounds will take place from 31 January to 3 February 2022 at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.

How does CAMPUS I work?
CAMPUS I will take place at the HfMDK Frankfurt from Thursday, 18 November up to and including Sunday, 21 November 2021 and is divided into four modules, each of which will be supervised by two mentors in the form of a master class.
The participants are divided into four groups and take one of the modules per day. The supervising mentors also form the jury for CAMPUS I and, after the four days, select a maximum of 12 candidates from all the participants who will be sent to CAMPUS II in Cologne and thus determined as participants in the competition.
