E-mail address for students
What does my e-mail address look like?
The e-mail address for students follows the pattern: vorname.nachname@students.hfmdk-frankfurt.de
Note: If your name appears more than once, a number will be added (e.g. maria.schmidt2@...).
When does the e-mail address become active?
Students who are already enrolled in May 2025: You will receive a message to your private e-mail address with all the important information. As soon as you have received this message, you can set up your HfMDK e-mail address.
New students: Your university e-mail address will be set up at the same time as your HfMDK account. You will receive a one-time message to your private e-mail address with all the important information.
Do I really have to use the address?
Yes!
From May 15, 2025, the university will only contact you via your HfMDK e-mail address. For students, the use of the HfMDK e-mail is mandatory from this date.
You can also use your university e-mail address for services or providers that offer discounts for members of educational institutions.
Can I continue to use my private e-mail address?
For private purposes yes - but from May 15, 2025 no longer for university communication.
Your private address will remain stored as an "emergency contact" (e.g. to reset your password).
Do I have to inform my contacts about my university e-mail address?
You do not have to inform anyone within the university, this happens automatically.
If you want to use the HfMDK e-mail address outside the university, please inform your contacts yourself.
How do I access my e-mail address?
Via the HfMDK Cloud: https://cloud.hfmdk-frankfurt.de
There you will find your mailbox, an internal HfMDK e-mail contact list and other services.
Alternatively, you can also access the mailbox with a mail program of your choice. Here are the server names and ports you need to set it up:

Outgoing mail server: smtp.rz.hfmdk-frankfurt.de

Port: 587
Username: Username of your HfMDK account

How do I change my password?
Change password (for students)
Please note that you are changing the password for your whole HfMDK account. This means that you will also need this new password for WiFi, CampusWEB, moodle, Asimut etc.
How secure is my e-mail address?
Your data is stored securely on the university's servers and is protected by the same security measures as all other HfMDK IT services.
