The Helix Trio was founded in 2022 by violinist Jaume Angelès Fité, cellist Guillermo Ortega Santos and pianist Paula Belzunegui Moreno at the Basel University of Music (FHNW). It is currently completing supplementary studies with the renowned professors Anton Kernjak, Claudio Martínez-Mehner, Zoltán Fejérvári, Silvia Simionescu and Anna Gebert, and Rafael Rosenfeld and Rainer Schmidt are also contributing to the ensemble's artistic development. Since 2023, the trio has been a member of the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) and part of the Le Dimore del Quartetto network.

The Helix Trio has been awarded several prestigious prizes, including the Filippo Nicosia Award 2024 in Italy, the "Emerging Ensemble 2025" award from the Spanish society FestClásica, first place at the ORPHEUS Swiss Chamber Music Competition 2022 and at the La Flama 2023 competition in Barcelona.

The ensemble has already performed at major festivals such as the Piano Trio Fest in Bern, the Swiss Chamber Music Competition and the Musikdorf Ernen festival. In 2023 it made its debut at the Palau de la Música Catalana and in the 2024/25 season it will perform at the Auditori de Barcelona. The trio has worked with renowned musicians such as Steven Isserlis, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Robert Levin and Heinz Holliger and has taken part in master classes at the IMS Prussia Cove in Cornwall and the International Chamber Music Academy in Vic, Catalonia.
