New degree program: Master of Opera and Voice
The Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) has a long and successful tradition of training singers and performers for the stage.
After a two-year break due to restructuring, we are now able to offer the new, independent Master of Opera and Voice. This advanced master's degree focuses on the opera stage, but also on other professional fields in the evolving music theater landscape, such as the independent scene. At the HfMDK there is a strong focus on contemporary music and its performance formats. This focus, together with the many practical experiences in the surrounding municipal and state theaters as part of the Hessian Theater Academy, makes studying in Frankfurt particularly attractive and opens up a wide range of career prospects.
Despite the general difficulties on the market, the placement rates of our singers have so far been extremely positive. HfMDK graduates sing at theaters in Stuttgart, Leipzig, Bonn, Munich, Darmstadt, Mainz, Ulm, Freiburg, Rostock, Osnabrück, Lübeck, Dresden and at Frankfurt Opera, our award-winning local opera house. Our graduates also perform internationally in Geneva, Zurich, Paris, Vienna, Amsterdam, Strasbourg, Copenhagen and Glyndebourne.
The high standard of vocal training at the HfMDK Frankfurt is confirmed time and again by the numerous casting directors, musical directors and opera directors who attend the annual "Directors' auditions".
