The Concert Jazzband, directed by Jens Hunstein, is made up of students from various degree programs. In this large jazz ensemble, programs with different focuses as well as works by students are developed and performed in addition to classical big band literature.

In addition to ensemble playing, students have the opportunity to learn and deepen the area of jazz-specific improvisation.

Concerts and rehearsals

In addition to various concert formats, the CJB regularly performs at the HfMDK Jazzfest. At the "Jugend jazzt" competition, the CJB achieved first place in the open class with excellent results.

Besides the typical big band instruments such as saxophones, brass and rhythm section, ALL instruments (strings, woodwinds) are welcome. Singers are also welcome to participate by arrangement.

Rehearsals take place on a weekly basis, increasingly at the beginning of the semester, and end with a concert at the end of the second third of the semester. Students can find the dates in the course catalog of Department 2.
