Re­se­arch

The HfMDK pro­mo­tes a dy­na­mic re­se­arch en­vi­ron­ment in a dia­log bet­ween aca­de­mic, ar­tis­tic and in­ter­di­sci­pli­na­ry re­se­arch ap­proa­ches and re­p­res­ents a plu­ra­listic un­der­stan­ding of re­se­arch.

Re­se­arch fo­cu­ses on mu­sic edu­ca­ti­on, mu­si­co­lo­gy and dance stu­dies. Re­se­arch ac­tivi­ties in the field of ar­tis­tic re­se­arch are also car­ri­ed out un­der the tit­le "Re­se­arch at the Uni­ver­si­ty of the Arts". The right to award doc­to­ra­tes is lo­ca­ted in Fa­cul­ty 2.

The re­se­arch ac­tivi­ties at the HfMDK are cor­re­spon­din­gly di­ver­se. In ad­di­ti­on to ma­jor re­se­arch pro­jec­ts, nu­me­rous for­mats in­clu­ding sym­po­sia, con­fe­ren­ces, lec­tu­re se­ries, se­mi­nars and working group mee­tings are re­gu­lar­ly or­ga­ni­zed.

From 2021 to 2025, numerous research projects were conceived, funded and successfully implemented as part of the "Research at the University of the Arts" funding program. Save the Date! The conference "Research at the Arts University + ONE" will take place in mid-May (16.+17.5.). The international, interdisciplinary conference will focus on the importance of research at art universities. in 2021, the HfMDK established a funding program for researchers entitled "Research at the Kunsthochschule" and has been developing it ever since. Now we add a "plus one": the research teams invite one guest from each of the funded projects. The conference languages are German and English.

From June 26 to 28, a musicological conference on female voices will take place in cooperation with the University of Koblenz: "Chant féminin" will be held here in the Small Hall.

Die Lis­te er­fasst alle Pu­bli­ka­tio­nen von Leh­ren­den an der HfMDK seit 2019. Da­bei geht es nur um selb­stän­di­ge Wer­ke, also Mo­no­gra­fi­en, Sam­mel­bän­de und Hand­bü­cher. Ein­zel­ne Ar­ti­kel oder Hand­buch­ein­trä­ge sind für die Au­tor*in­nen nicht ver­zeich­net.

Currently, you can earn a doctorate at the HfMDK in the subjects of musicology, music education, and dance studies and receive the academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Dr. phil.).

In the Graduate School, doctoral students in music education gain further professional qualifications during their doctorate. Several colleges and universities in Germany and Austria have joined forces for this purpose. The program comprises 4 components and 180 credit points.
